This is the second instalment of Sansom’s Mobile Library series – I reviewed the first volume in the last posting.
There is not much more to add about Mr Dixon Disappears, the second of the series. There are fewer characters, it’s not quite as funny, but still well worth reading. It’s an easy read – lighthearted and fun, though it does have a couple of moments more serious than the first.
Israel Armstrong – the hero of the book – is so much the modern hero – self deprecating, overweight, a bit of a failure – that he provokes gentle and compassionate laughter. Just what we all need to bring to life, I think.
